The Black Gay Men’s Network of Ontario is a centralized hub and a platform for Ontario African, Caribbean, & Black (ACB) same gender loving (SGL) men, Afro Latino men and SGL men of the African diaspora however they identify. It operates as an independent and autonomous entity that is not Toronto-centric. Our goal is to provide leadership, cultural/social opportunities, self-development/empowerment, mentorship/inter-generational opportunities and support for activism aimed at improving the lives of Black queer people in Ontario.

Full Time Communications/ Events/ Social Media Resource

BGMN is seeking an experienced resource to perform communications, events production and social media management duties. This is a full time hourly role that will end on September 30th, 2021.
Responsibilities:
Execute tactics required to implement the BGMN communications strategy. This will include, but will not be limited to the following:
- Adhering to the Black CAP digital communications policies
- Creating/ maintaining web alerts to ensure awareness of sector events and trends and drive development of relevant communications content.
- Updating the BGMN website. Ensuring content, asset and resource relevance
- Managing the BGMN social media accounts; FB, Instagram, Twitter, etc. This will include scheduled as well as event driven posts and interactions with the public via social media
- Ensuring all online/social media interaction with the public is in line with the BGMN approved tone and voice and information disseminated is approved for distribution
- Managing the BGMN Google account to ensure information accuracy and track reporting/analytics e.g. website visits, search volume, etc.
- Managing the BGMN communications email box and relevant correspondence with external stakeholders
- Managing the BGMN Eventbrite account and event related communications/ postings
- Ensuring all external communications are aligned with the BGMN communication strategy and are reviewed and approved (as needed) prior to sending
- Executing approved activities in the BGMN content calendar using approved assets (images, videos, etc.)
- Managing the asset creation and approval process in line with the requirements of the content calendar
- Managing approved search and social media campaigns (paid and organic) including any testing of alternative tactics and budget monitoring and expense submission
- Generating content ideas/concepts for review
- Providing monthly and ad-hoc reporting regarding campaign performance, impressions, clicks, etc. and recommendations for tactic adjustments as necessary
- Developing reporting to track outcomes to communications tactics, e.g. event attendance, online engagement, general awareness
- Distributing newsletters to BGMN members
Event production/support
- Produce all BGMN events (virtual/ in-person/ hybrid)
- Conduct detailed event planning and coordination
- Travel to BGMN events as required
- Organize all BGMN events and supporting activities
- Book speakers and talent for performances
- Arrange equipment rental and setup
- Secure and rent space where required
- Arrange catering and delivery
- Coordinate event setup and teardown and assist where required
- Conduct event specific survey administration – Including, securing materials, printing, collecting, collating, data entry, reporting and communication
- Track and report on event attendance
- Coordinate event documentation via filming/photography, editing and post to social media and website
- Secure documentary waivers from event attendees where necessary
Requirements & Qualifications:
- 2+ years of communications/coordination experience
- 1+ years of experience working in event coordination or event logistics related activities
- Experience working in marketing or a digital agency catering to the creative/arts management or not for profit sectors
- Event promotions experience
- A creative individual with experience bringing ideas to life
- Project coordination experience
- Experience coordinating activities across diverse and geographically dispersed teams
- A self-motivated individual able to motivate and lead others
- Ability to problem solve in difficult situations, prioritize and triage issues to achieve desired outcomes
- Ability to travel as needed to execute and support events
- Engaging personality required to interact with community members, service providers and sector professionals
- Administrative experience preferred
- Experience working with ACB MSM populations
- Expert experience with MS Office suite or G Suite
- Experience with Adobe creative suite
